Scene 1

Characters: The three witches

Location: A open place

Time: Unknown

Events: The witches plan to meet again after the battle is over. They plan to meet Macbeth on the heath. King Duncan asks for a report on the battle.

Scene 2

Characters: King Duncan, Malcom, Donalbain, Lenox, Captain and Rosse.

Location: A camp near Forres.

Time: Unknown, near end of the battle.

Events: A wounded captain came back and informed that Macbeth won the battle against Macdonwald. Then Rosse informs the Noweyan’s, who are allied with the rebels, have come to battle however they fight off the attack.

Quote: “As sparrows eagles, or the hare the lion.”

“For brave Macbeth (well he deserves that name),”

Scene 3

Characters: Witches 1,2 and 3. Macbeth, Banquo, Rosse, Angus, Duncan

Location: A heath

Time: Unknown

Events: Macbeth has taken the Thane of Cawdor prisoner for being a traitor and Duncan sentences Cawdor to death and transfers his title to Macbeth. The witches discuss what they have been up to. Macbeth and Banquo come upon the witches and ask to show them their futures. Macbeth is told he will be King but the witches don’t mention any of Banquo’s future. When Banquo questions this they tell him he will not be King however his sons will be.

Quote: “So foul and fair a day I have not seen.”

Scene 4

Characters: Duncan, Donalbain, Malcolm, Lenox, Macbeth, Banquo.

Location: Forres, a room in the King’s Palace

Time: Unknown

Events: Malcolm and Duncan discuss that the Thane of Cawdor died with dignity by accepting the responsibilities of his actions throughout his life. Duncan mentions that Malcolm will be the heir to the title the Prince of Cumberland. Macbeth decides he will be the King as he believes this is his fate he was told by the witches. Macbeth knows that he will have to kill Malcolm to claim his title and is denial about the process he will have to go through to do it.

Scene 5

Characters: Lady Macbeth, Messenger, Macbeth

Location: Inverness, A room in Macbeth’s castle

Time: Unknown

Events: Lady Macbeth receives a letter telling her of the future Macbeth could have as a king if he killed the current King. Lady Macbeth doesn’t believe Macbeth has the courage to kill him and become King however she supports him and will influence in all possible ways to help aid him. Lady Macbeth is guiding Macbeth towards the evil that has been suggested by the witches and kill King Duncan herself.

Quote: “Art not without ambition, but without the illness that should attend it:”

“unsex me here, And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full Of direst cruelty!”

Scene 6

Characters: Duncan, Malcolm, Donalbain, Banquo, Lenox, Macduff, Rosse, Angus, Lady Macbeth.

Location: Macbeth’s castle

Time: Unknown

Events: Duncan, Lady Macbeth and Banquo meet acting friendly while they all ignore the truth that for Macbeth in the process of becoming King he must kill Duncan.

Quote: “The love that follows us sometime is our trouble, Which we still thank as love.”

Scene 7

Characters: Macbeth, Lady Macbeth.

Location: A room in the castle

Time: Unknown

Events: Macbeth is undecided about whether to make himself King or not. He believes that there may be more downsides to killing Duncan than there are benefits, as the consequences would be going to Hell and going against God, living with the guilt and the fact that he would be killing people of his own bloodline which would ruin the trust he is currently maintaining.
